A long time ago I made a puffed heart form out of Sculpey™ with the intent of creating a fine silver pendant. Well, it sat and sat being sorely neglected until recently when I bought a new texture stamp that I knew would be perfect for it. So, I rolled out my silver clay, applied the texture and then molded it over the heart. After perfecting, refining and firing it in the kiln, I decided it needed a little more "something" and I knew just what that "something" was!
There is an ancient Asian technique called Keum-boo, which translates literally to "attached gold" - it is a process where you bond 24k gold foil to fine silver (other other metals). I cut my shape out of the gold and then, using the Keum-boo technique, applied the gold foil to the fine silver. The end result is a beautiful pendant with a highlight of 24k gold. The liver of sulphur patina highlights the gold and the rich texture.
The heart is approximately 28x22mm and is a lightweight hollow form. Strung on a sterling unseamed snake chain with a sterling lobster clasp. 17" length. Made by Lisa.
